How to exchange your watch strap

You are in love with your watch, but want to give it a fresh look with an all-new strap? Exchanging your Mermaid Stories strap is easy. This step-by-step guide shows you exactly how to do it yourself - no need for any fancy tools!

What you need:

• An object with a pointed end, for example a safety pin or a sewing needle
• An object with a flat end, for example a table knife
• Your watch and your new strap

Step 1

Put a towel on your desk or table to protect the watch from getting scratches while you’re working. Place your watch with the dial side down. This way, if you accidentally slip with your tool, it won’t be visible.

Use the needle to push in the spring bar on the side of the watch case.

Step 2

As you’re pushing in, use your other hand to gently slide the strap to release the spring bar from the watch case lug. Repeat that on the other side. 

Step 3

Put one end of the spring bar of the new strap, into the hole in the watch case lug.

Step 4

Use the knife to press in the spring bar towards the strap. Use your other hand to gently slide the strap with the spring bar, into the watch case lug. Slightly move the strap back and forth, until the spring bar goes ‘click’. Repeat on the opposite side.

Now you are done and ready to go!
